ProAltus supported Sepura with the scoping, supply, installation and certification of a complete fall protection and roof edge protection solution across four separate roof areas at their 9000 Cambridge Research Park facility in Waterbeach.

Working alongside the site's facilities team, we installed free standing, non-penetrative guard rail systems to protect exposed roof edges, including 36m runs to the larger Area 1 and Area 4 roofs and shorter runs across Areas 2 and 3, all to BS 13700. Counterweighted bases were used throughout to avoid penetrating the existing roof membrane and to keep the building watertight.

Alongside the guard rail works, our team certified the fixed ladders to BS 4211, certified the step up access points and the top fixed guard rail, and replaced corroded M10 fixings with stainless steel equivalents to improve the long-term durability of the installed systems. Each guard rail and ladder was individually ID tagged and inspection tagged to support a clear ongoing inspection and maintenance record. The works were carried out across several exposed roof levels in changeable weather, with the team maintaining safe, controlled access and keeping the installation on programme throughout.

The result was a safer, fully certified roof access and fall protection arrangement across the whole building, giving Sepura a compliant, low-maintenance solution to support future inspection and maintenance works at height.
